OATS AND VEGETABLE UPMA

INGREDIENTS:
1. WHOLE GRAIN OATS - 2 CUPS
2. VEGETABLE OF YOUR CHOICE ( CARROTS, BEANS, BABYCORN, POTATO) - 3/4 CUP
3. MUSTARD SEEDS - 1/4 TEASPOON
4. CUMIN SEEDS - 1/4 TEASPOON
5. GREEN CHILLIES - 4 NO.S
6. GRATED COCONUT - 1 TABLESPOON
7. TURMERIC POWDER - 1/4 TEASPOON
8. SALT - ACCORDING TO YOUR TASTE
9. LEMON JUICE - LITTLE (OPTIONAL)
10.WATER - 2 1/2 CUPS

METHOD:
1. HEAT OIL IN A KADAI AND THEN ADD MUSTARD SEEDS AND CUMIN SEEDS.
2. ADD THE GREEN CHILLIES ,VEGETABLES AND COVER THE KADAI WITH A LID . LET IT COOK FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES TILL THE VEGGIES ARE COOKED .
3. ADD WATER NOW AND WAIT TILL THE WATER STARTS TO BOIL.
4. MICROWAVE THE OATS IN A BOWL FOR A MINUTE . THIS PREVENTS THE OATS FROM STICKING .
5. NOW ADD THE OATS TO THE BOILING WATER .
6. ADD TURMERIC POWDER AND SALT .
7 .COVER THE KADAI WITH A LID .
8. WAIT TILL THE WATER GETS ABSORBED .
9. TURN OFF THE STOVE AND ADD THE GRATED COCONUT. STIR THE UPMA AND SPRINKLE SOME LEMON JUICE ON IT . THE UPMA IS READY . LET IT STAND FOR COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN IT IS READY TO BE SERVED .THIS CAN BE HAD WITH ANY TYPE OF PICKLE .
