THAKKALI KOLAMBHU OR TOMATO CURRY

INGREDIENTS:
1.TOMATOES - 4 (MEDIUM SIZED)
2.GREEN CHILLIES - 3 NO.S
3.ONION - 1
4.RED CHILLIES - 4 NO.S
5.TURMERIC POWDER - 1/2 TEASPOON
6.GINGER - 1/4 INCH PIECE
7.CUMIN SEEDS - 1/2 TEASPOON
8.GRATED COCONUT - 1/4 CUP
9.POPPY SEEDS - 1 TABLESPOON
10.JAGGERY - VERY LITTLE (OPTIONAL)
11.SESAME OIL - 1/4 CUP
12.WATER - 1 CUP
13.SALT - ACCORDING TO YOUR TASTE

METHOD:
1.HEAT OIL IN A KADAI . ADD MUSTARD SEEDS . THEN ADD GREEN CHILLIES AND THE SLICED ONIONS .
2.GRIND TOMATOES, REDCHILLIES, GINGER, CUMIN SEEDS, POPPY SEEDS, GRATED COCONUT IN TO A COARSE PASTE .
3.ADD THIS PASTE TO THE KADAI . FRY FOR 3 MINUTES.
4.ADD WATER, SALT, JAGGERY, TURMERIC POWDER . CLOSE THE KADAI WITH A LID . LET IT SIMMER FOR 10 MINUTES . THE CURRY IS READY . IT GOES WELL WITH IDLY, DOSA OR RICE .
